WordPress 2.7.1 Upgrade Failed on 1and1.com?

1. In my opinion the best way to work with 1and1, is to avoid it like the Black Plaque.

2. You certainly seem to dislike 1&1, as every reference to “Warth Publishing” is a similar comment. I’ve been using 1&1 since 2003, and am very happy. I chose them because they gave a year’s free hosting with ssh access. I don’t think I’ve even ever had to contact technical support – they just work for me.

3. Thank you for the fix… Just what I needed.

4. What, 1and1 is one of the cheapest, and I got 2 free domains for signing up (which is why I signed up in the first place). Been about four years and still find no reason to switch except annoying things like this every once in a while, when they would “just work” on my Ubuntu test box, out the box.

5. [Solved] wordpress automatic update from version 2.7.1 to 2.8.4
   October 2nd, 2009

   After moving from Asmallorange to exabytes hosting, i cannot upgrade all my plugins and can’t upgrade my wordpress to the latest version 2.8.4

   I have search through everywhere but couldn’t find the solution to this problem.

   I have tried downloading core control and edit .htaccess but failed.

   Finally i solved it !

   1. Always backup your database and also your files / folder.
   2. Delete your old wp-includes and wp-admin directories.
   3. Upload the new wp-includes and wp-admin directories.
   4. Upload and overwrite all the old files in the root, EXCEPT the wp-content folder and wp-config.php file. (I repeat DO NOT DELETE YOUR WP-CONTENT and WP-CONFIG.php file)
   5. Visit your main WordPress admin page at /wp-admin, login and it leads you to an upgrade page, click upgrade and follow instruction.

6. now has available a new version of wordpress 2.8.5, if you have to upgrade? I hope the upgrade process is running smoothly.
