At Hamvention, I bought slightly more of an oscilloscope than I needed, a Rigol <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rigolna.com\/products\/digital-oscilloscopes\/ds1000e\/ds1102e\/\">DS1102E<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After calibrating the probes, I cast around for something to measure. Aha! There lay an\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/jimmieprodgers.com\/kits\/apc\/\">Atari Punk Console<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/scruss.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/14\/fun-trick-noisemaker\/\">previously<\/a>) ready to show the world what its waveforms look like.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7576\" title=\"apc: lower frequency\" src=\"http:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile2.png 320w, https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile2-160x117.png 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Surprsingly clean output here.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7575\" title=\"apc: &quot;squelch-fart&quot; noise\" src=\"http:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile1.png 320w, https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile1-160x117.png 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ahh, the notorious APC &#8220;squelch-fart&#8221; noise. The poor little speaker hasn&#8217;t a chance of reproducing this, so it collapses into spasms.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7574\" title=\"apc: high frequency\" src=\"http:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile0.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile0.png 320w, https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/NewFile0-160x117.png 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A noisier high frequency signal from the APC.<\/p>\n<p>The Rigol is pretty easy to use.
