I remember when all of it was scrubby shrubs and boxy buildings.<\/li>\n<li>The A174 between Saltburn and Whitby is perhaps the world&#8217;s most gratuitously wiggly road in the Z-axis.<\/li>\n<li>You can actually get an amateur radio magazine in most newsagents: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pwpublishing.ltd.uk\/\">Practical Wireless<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Driving to Fala to join the A68 from North Berwick has extreme XY wiggliness.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucasicecream.co.uk\/index.html\">S. Luca of Musselburgh<\/a> make very good ice cream, and their <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.flickr.com\/photos\/mysight\/4897979577\/\">purple Mini-based truck<\/a> is quaint.<\/li>\n<li>Either the routing database from the UK is weird, or the Garmin n\u00c3\u00bcvi 760 can&#8217;t route for toffee.<\/li>\n<li>Eyemouth is much more fun than I expected. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oblobar.com\/\">Obl\u00c3\u00b2<\/a> is a great wee restaurant.<\/li>\n<li>With a \u00c2\u00a320 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.o2.com\/\">O2<\/a> SIM and an unlocked GSM phone, I had calling ability for the trip.<\/li>\n<li>Kirkintilloch has a marina! <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southbankmarina.co.uk\/\">Southbank Marina<\/a> is quite spiffy.<\/li>\n<li>The Quayside in Whitby has fab fish and chips.<\/li>\n<li>I actually heard someone use the expression \u00e2\u20ac\u0153fandabidozi\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in a non-ironic setting in Glasgow<\/li>\n<li>Yum yums aren&#8217;t as good as I remember them being.<\/li>\n<li>Walking barefoot on a Scottish lawn is an exquisite pleasure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pictures later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The M8 through Livingston is now tree-lined, with no sign of the buildings behind.
