This means that some <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/\">WordPress<\/a> plugins will exhaust memory, and fail.<br \/>\nI&#8217;d been wanting to set up <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/scissors\/\">Scissors<\/a> for <a href=\"http:\/\/c-raine.com\/\">Catherine<\/a>&#8216;s blog so she could more easily edit images without having to learn <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gimp.org\/\">GIMP<\/a>. But it wouldn&#8217;t work, running out of memory at every turn, and trying to set PHP&#8217;s memory limit locally cause WordPress to fail completely.<br \/>\nSo I was pleased to see that <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/development\/2009\/12\/wordpress-2-9\/\">WordPress 2.9<\/a> had an editor built in. The upgrade went smoothly (I don&#8217;t miss the days of <code>rm -i *.php<\/code> and making sure you didn&#8217;t vape your config file), but I couldn&#8217;t seem to find the editor. (It&#8217;s early, I&#8217;m old.)<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s called up by that quiet little button under the image details:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4976\" title=\"the subtle Edit Image button\" src=\"http:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Screen-shot-2009-12-19-at-07.24.32-.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"364\" height=\"146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Screen-shot-2009-12-19-at-07.24.32-.png 364w, https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Screen-shot-2009-12-19-at-07.24.32--160x64.png 160w, https:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Screen-shot-2009-12-19-at-07.24.32--320x128.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 364px) 100vw, 364px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Works just fine.
