{"id":3464,"date":"2008-01-29T08:03:57","date_gmt":"2008-01-29T13:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scruss.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/29\/the-analogue-hole\/"},"modified":"2008-05-17T09:33:53","modified_gmt":"2008-05-17T13:33:53","slug":"the-analogue-hole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scruss.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/29\/the-analogue-hole\/","title":{"rendered":"the analogue hole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have a bunch of Catherine&#8217;s old family recordings to digitise (do people still do that &#8211; sit around a tape recorder and make recordings?) and I had recorded one of Ken&#8217;s shows on minidisc, so I needed a relatively clean way to get analogue audio onto the computer.<\/p>\n<p>I ended up getting a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.griffintechnology.com\/products\/imic\">Griffin iMic<\/a>, a small USB audio input device. The sound quality is remarkably clean; here&#8217;s a sine wave recorded from CD to minidisc, then recorded on the iMic:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/scruss.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/tracks000.png\" alt=\"tracks000.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00c2\u00a0 iMic seems to work with all Mac audio software as an input device. The free <a href=\"http:\/\/www.griffintechnology.com\/support\/products\/imic\">Final Vinyl <\/a>recording sofware is pretty, but a bit buggy and annoyingly, only works when the iMic is connected.
