A combination of the audio tracks from the <em>Marino<\/em> DVD release and the 2005 tour CD, I much prefer it to <em>The Milk of Human Kindness<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>The Decemberists \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Picaresque<\/em>: I know all the hip kids had it as MP3s last year.<\/li>\n<li>Dressy Bessy \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Electrified<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The Fruit Bats \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Spelled in Bones<\/em>: folk, with just the right tinge of bubblegum<\/li>\n<li>Malcolm Middleton \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Into The Woods<\/em>: anyone who can sing about the existential possibilities of Falkirk High station, and also about love &amp; chips, is deep into the Scottish psyche.<\/li>\n<li>Of Montreal \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>The Sunlandic Twins<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Kate Rusby \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>The Girl Who Couldn&#8217;t Fly<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Sigur R\u00c3\u00b3s \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Takk \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/em>: and yet I still don&#8217;t know what they&#8217;re singing <em>about<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Sufjan Stevens \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Illinois<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Teenage Fanclub \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>ManMade<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Vashti Bunyan \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Lookaftering<\/em>: don&#8217;t dismiss this as merely fey hippy nonsense; it&#8217;s <em>beautiful<\/em> fey hippy nonsense.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We like them, they like us:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dan Jones \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Get Sounds Now<\/em>: Catherine&#8217;s elementary school friend rocks out<\/li>\n<li>Lazerlove5 \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Flicker Mask<\/em>: fine funkiness from a fellow <a href=\"http:\/\/fegmaniax.org\/\">feg<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Excellent compilations from 2005:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ivor Cutler \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>An Elpee and Two Epees<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Charlie Poole &amp; The Roots of Country Music \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>You Ain&#8217;t Talking to Me<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some excellent tracks, but not entirely memorable as albums:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Devendra Banhart \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Cripple Crow<\/em>: <em>I&#8217;m a Child<\/em> is crazed genius, but lose the Spanish lounge music, eh?<\/li>\n<li>Eels \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Blinking Lights And Other Revelations<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Jennifer Gentle \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Valende<\/em>: <em>I Do Dream You<\/em> is the perfect garage punk song.<\/li>\n<li>John Parish \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Once Upon a Little Time<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Sleater-Kinney \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>The Woods<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Wolf Parade \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <em>Apologies to the Queen Mary<\/em>: what was with the lumpen first few tracks?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next year, look out for The Lollipop People&#8217;s <em>We Need a New F-Word<\/em>.
