It&#8217;s the output from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wasp.dk\/\">WAsP<\/a>&#8216;s map editor, reprsenting some terrain roughness data exported from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goldensoftware.com\/products\/surfer\/surfer.shtml\">Surfer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The original data set looks a bit like this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"gridvalues.png\" src=\"http:\/\/scruss.com\/blog\/archives\/gridvalues.png\" width=\"192\" height=\"192\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a grid of values. Unfortunately, WAsP wants the boundaries, and it took me a while to work out a (rather inefficient) algorithm to find them.<\/p>\n<p>Now I have to go off and recode this in Fortran 90. I&#8217;m glad that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intel.com\/software\/products\/compilers\/flin\/noncom.htm\">Intel\u00ae Fortran Compiler for Linux<\/a> is available free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Being able to see this represents quite a bit of work on my part.
