It&#8217;s got <em>really<\/em> short arms \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n\n<p>Despite what Thingiverse might say, this is <em>not<\/em> a Customizer project. Opening that link will disappoint.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parts required<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>at least<\/em> 12\u00c3\u2014 \u00c2\u00bc&#8221; Loc-Line segments<\/li><li>2\u00c3\u2014 Loc-Line \u00c2\u00bc&#8221; NPT threaded connectors<\/li><li>2\u00c3\u2014 Loc-Line \u00c2\u00bc&#8221; nozzles<\/li><li>2\u00c3\u2014 alligator clips<\/li><li>3\u00c3\u2014 adhesive round non-slip feet (up to 16 mm diameter)<\/li><li>appx. 60 g steel BB shot (or available equivalent) as ballast<\/li><li>hot glue to secure ballast and seal port in place<\/li><li>Polycaprolactone (PCL; trade names include <em>InstaMorph<\/em>) warm-melt granules to secure clips into nozzles<\/li><li><em>(optional)<\/em> PTFE plumber&#8217;s tape.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p>Note that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.modularhose.com\/\">Modular Hose<\/a> promotional Loc-Line keyrings each have 3 segments plus a threaded connector and nozzle, so four keyrings provide enough parts.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assembly<\/h2>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>assemble the two Loc-Line arms with a threaded connector and at least six segments each<\/li><li>secure the ends of the alligator clips in the nozzles using softened PCL or hot glue. Make sure that the ball joint connector surface is clear of material, as you&#8217;ll need this to fit the nozzle onto the arm<\/li><li>fill the tool body with ballast, apply a plug of hot glue to stop it rattling and secure the end port in place<\/li><li>Carefully thread the arms onto the tool body. NPT threads are tapered, so become gradually tighter as they go in. Use a little plumber&#8217;s tape if they&#8217;re too loose. Be careful not to overtighten, as this might crack the tool<\/li><li>Apply the non-slip feet, applying appropriate pressure to activate the adhesive<\/li><li>Get soldering!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acknowledgements<\/h2>\n\n<p>Dan Kirshner&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/dkprojects.net\/openscad-threads\/\">Thread-drawing modules for OpenSCAD<\/a> were used to make a nice \u00c2\u00bc&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_pipe_thread\">NPT<\/a> taper-profile thread.
