Donating Rob Ford’s $60 bribe

So I got my vehicle tax refund cheque yesterday. In a city that’s gridlocked, if anything is a blatant attempt to buy votes, this $60 “refund” is the worst possible way to reward voters. I think that the Toronto Coalition for Active Transportation could use the money better than me.

  1. I am so glad there are people on the same page on this issue. Thanks for blogging about it too. Did you write to Ford and your city councillor to let them know what you’ve done? I would encourage you to do so if you haven’t yet!
    Nadia.

  2. I wrote to both Ford and Michelle Berardinetti. Got a canned insta-response from the mayor, and one 90 minutes later from Cllr Berardinetti saying “As an avid cyclist myself, I appreciate the health and environmental benefits of walking and cycling within our urban environment.”.

This is the same councillor that had “No More Bike Lanes” flyers made up for her election (http://www.torontocranks.com/?p=2120), and votes identically to the rest of the “Ford Nation”.
